This 70 foot by 26 foot twin screw towboat was purchased by Parker Towing Company, Inc. in 1988 and re-named in honor of Captain Selden Hurtt, a long time Parker Towing Company, Inc. employee and retired Captain. Built in 1970 by Industrial Steel & Machine Works, Gulfport, MS. and later re-built by Rayco Shipbuilders & Repairs, Bourg, LA., it was re-powered in 1997 with two 12 cylinder GENERAL MOTORS model 12V-149 diesel engines, delivering 1,350 horse power through 7 to 1 TWIN DISC reduction gears. Originally named the POINT CLEAR while owned by Plimsoll Marine, Inc., New Orleans, LA. It is presently in shifting service on the Warrior-Tombigbee River.
